JACCU & JAE Collaboration

JACCU, Stichting Japanese Art & Culture Centre of Utrecht, is excited to announce their recent collaboration with Japan Art Expo (JAE), a two-day event with lectures on Japanese art and culture, bringing together organisations around the world right to Utrecht.

Always in the front line to celebrate the best of Japanese art and culture, JACCU was happy to become a sponsor for Japan Art Expo, the event thought for industry professionals, reputable art dealers, private collectors of Japanese art and antiquities, and educational institutions.

JACCU and JAE have some solid common ground. JACCU’s mission to foster Japanese art and culture, their spreading and understanding towards the people of Utrecht and their surroundings and JAE’s interest in the promotion of Japanese art and culture (and antiques), their mission to help attendants to deepen their knowledge of Japanese arts and antiques. Also, their vision is to make Utrecht the main hub for Japanese art, just like JACCU’s ambitious dream.

The Expo does so through a wide selection of lectures, educational seminars and demonstrations and by bringing together specialists, dealers, collectors, experts, hobbyists and institutions passionate about Japanese art and culture to further understanding at a more practical level.

Japan Art Expo [JAE]

Japan Art Expo is a unique two-day event in the heart of Europe. At once an art fair and educational conference, which will showcase the best of Japanese craftsmanship. There will be an international array of dealers from Europe and Japan specialising in various fields across Japanese Art. Dealers will be joined by scholars and specialists to bring their passion and expertise to professionals, collectors and hobbyists alike, all under one roof.

The continued enthusiasm for Japan in Europe has seen a growth in audiences who are looking for a deeper dive into Japanese culture. JAE is the first major expo solely dedicated to Japanese arts and culture, and the event’s director coordinated the event with this in mind. The director regularly collaborates with embassies, educational institutions and museums to host talks and exhibitions. He is also the director of Japanese Gallery Kensington Ltd. When looking at how to shape the expo, Mr. Wertheim considered that “there are many times where lectures and symposiums show artworks to audiences without being able to interact with the object itself. But at the Japan Art Expo it is an integral part of the event. It will maximise learning opportunities through real world examples”.

Visitors will be able to engage with art through educational lectures, symposiums and handling sessions, breaking the barrier between artwork and audience. It is an exciting opportunity to engage with, learn about and collect Japanese works of art across a broad spectrum of disciplines. The variety of attendees’ areas of work and specialisms make JAE a hub for exchanging knowledge and ideas, as well as forging new connections within the industry.

Specialist Japanese art scholars from prestigious societies will be on hand to provide visitors with industry knowledge. It will benefit both seasoned collectors looking to buy items directly with peace of mind and for new collectors to feel empowered in an unbiased, knowledge driven environment.
